A pool deck is the hardest-working surface in any backyard. It is wet all summer, walked on with bare feet, splashed with chlorinated or salt water, and then frozen solid all winter. That combination destroys ordinary decking fast — which is why a proper pool deck is a specialist build, not a standard one. The right materials for a pool surround

Around water, traction and comfort matter more than anything. We build most pool decks in capped composite and mineral-based boards because they are splinter-free, slip-resistant even when wet, and shrug off pool chemicals, moisture and mould without staining or rotting. Unlike pressure-treated wood, composite never needs sanding or sealing and won't send a splinter into a bare foot. For low decks right at water level, we often specify mineral-based composite that is rated for constant wet, ground-contact conditions.

We design decks that work with your fencing and gates, keep clearances right, and finish with the features that make a pool area feel like a private retreat: glass railings that preserve sightlines to the water, and privacy screens that block neighbours and wind. Where you want an unobstructed view of the pool, frameless glass railings are the premium choice.
